IT’S BACK! After a two-year hiatus, your NIU Alumni Association will now be sending you Northern Now on a regular basis.
We are very happy to get back to publishing this alumni magazine, and we are sure you’ll enjoy reading the articles, catching up on what is happening on campus and learning about the achievements of your fellow alumni. Our plan is to send the electronic version of Northern Now to all alumni and to mail hard copies to our dues-paying members.
I see the resurrection of Northern Now as symbolic of what is happening at NIU. We have an exciting new president ready to lead the University. With a budget in place, NIU has finished the renovations of the Stevens Building, and Dr. Freeman and staff have a number of other initiatives under way. NIU has a joint venture with Discover Financial Services on campus, and is working with several other organizations to engage our students in win-win relationships.
On the NIUAA side, we are fully staffed, have increased our event programming, have created the NIU Nexus alumni volunteer program and are engaged with alumni all over the country and the world.
I am very excited to be serving as your president. I look forward to meeting many of you at future events and activities.
Take care,
Peter Garrity, ’71, M.B.A. ’76
President, NIUAA Board of Directors
