Six Huskie student-athletes were honored with All-America or Academic All-America honors. Leading the list is senior volleyball setter Kristin Hoffman, who earned recognition in both categories. A history major with a 3.97 GPA, Hoffman was a first-team Capital One Academic All-American after earning third-team honors a year ago. On the court, she was selected as an honorable mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Senior Allison McGlaughlin joined Hoffman as an Academic All-American; the elementary education major with a 3.96 GPA earned third-team recognition as NIU was the only team to have two players honored. Their sophomore teammate Lauren Wicinski was named a third-team All-American by the AVCA after picking up her second straight Mid-American Conference MVP award.
NIU football’s All-American list was led by senior center Scott Wedige, who was named a second-team All-American by CBSSports.com to become the first Northern Illinois player since Michael Turner in 2003 to be selected as a postseason first- or secondteam All-American. Huskie quarterback Chandler Harnish earned honorable mention All-America honors from SI.com, and left tackle Trevor Olson was named to Phil Steele’s fourth team.
